Republic Day Competitions 2025

Our Republic Day competitions are for 3rd grade and older kids only.
The younger kids participate in Republic Day Fancy dress parade on Jan 26th in the Assembly.
1/25 Saturday – Republic day competitions 4-6pm – All competitions
Art 4-5:30pm in Dining room
Writing 4:00-5:00pm in Tapovan Wing
Speech 4:30-6:00pm in M2, M3 rooms
1/26 Sunday – Republic Day Parade and celebration – in assembly for Shishu Vihar – 2nd gr kids
Backup day – 2/9 Sunday – Republic Day Competitions 10:30am-11:30am – Writing and Speech only
Writing 10:30-11:30pm in Dining room
Speech 10:30-11:30pm in M2, M3 rooms
This year the theme is centered around ‘Rising Above Fear’ and ‘Nature is my Teacher’
Please encourage your kids to participate. Do signup your kids to help the planning.
Walk-ins are welcome!
Art topic – Design a poster by choosing any one quote centered around the topic ‘Nature is my Teacher’
Rules for Art:
Please plan to come 5 min before the start of the competition so the kids can settle down.
1. 11X14 size drawing sheet will be provided to all.
2. Painting is not allowed. Kids can use only dry media: color pencils, crayons, oil pastels, charcoals, and markers.
3. Before submitting, put your first and last name, grade, Session(S1,S2,S3, Marietta), teacher’s name on the back of the sheet.
4. Write the Quote you have chosen and optionally a brief description of the painting on the back.
Writing topics:
Elementary school – ‘Nature is my Teacher’
Middle school – ‘Rising Above Fear’
High school – ‘Rising Above Fear’.
Rules for writing:
Please join 5 mins early as the instructions will be given at the beginning.
1. You will hand write the essay during the competition on the paper we provide. Please bring clipboard, pencils and eraser.
2. The essay should be 2-3 pages in length. Try to be creative adding quotes, names, BV learnings.
3. Put your first and last name, grade, Session(S1,S2,S3, Marietta), teacher’s name on the top of the essay. Add page numbers before turning it in
Speech topics: 6th gr and up
‘Rising Above Fear’
Rules for Speech: (You can do speech competition after Art/writing if participating in multiple competitions)
1. Prepare your speech so that when you present it to the audience it is 3-4 mins long. It should be a minimum of 3 mins and not more than 4.5mins.
2. You may use a note card for cues but cannot read it verbatim.
3. Points will be given for:
Length of speech – not too short or too long
Clarity of speech – not too fast, clear and audible
Organization of content (good beginning, middle, ending, not repeating)
Quality of content (relevant to topic, usage of quotes, BV learnings, humor)
Presentation of content – Effective delivery and eye contact with the participants
