It is with great joy that we announce the accomplishments of our Gurukul kids in the National Gita Chanting Competition held in Pittsburgh and at Chinmaya Gurukul this year. This is a competition held every year, and this year, to mark the 75th year of Chinmaya Mission, there is a national and an international competition as well.
To qualify, our Gurukul students participated in the Gita Chanting Competition held at our Ashram in March. The chapter chosen this year was the 12th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita. There is a systematic method of teaching the students. Qualified teachers recite the verses in the assembly and the kids become familiar with them. Around January, we start classes where participating kids are taught stanza by stanza, and finally, the kids recite in front of qualified judges. It is some of these kids who, after rigorous practice and several rounds in which they had to qualify at the local and state levels, participated in the National Competition.
There were different types of competitions: Gita Chanting, Gita Vocabulary, Gita Talks (speech), and Gita Krida (Kahoot Game), organized at the Georgia state level at the end of May 2026. The winners of the state competition participated in the National Competition.
Our kids did very well and won 7 prizes in various age group categories. Congratulations to all the participants and winners for putting in their best effort! Those who were participating in Gita Chanting and Gita Talks traveled with their parents to Pittsburgh.
We appreciate the enthusiasm of the parents in encouraging the kids to excel and participate. These winners will be eligible to participate in the International Competition in India in December.
