It is high time, our Sundar Krishna is moved into a beautiful altar of His own, a temple befitting the beauty of our deity. Over several years, we have felt the need to to have a permanent, divine temple for Sundar Krishna, well lit, with good visibility, and providing the ease of performing Pujas. In the year of Pratishthapana of Ram Lalla in the beautiful new temple at Ayodhya, it is time to build a temple for our Sundar Krishna!
On his previous visits at Chinmaya Gurukul, Pujya Swami Swaroopanandaji, Head of Chinmaya Mission Worldwide has pointed out on several occasions that we need to have a permanent and beautiful altar for Sundar Krishna.
It would resonate with all of us, because the current altar is small, kind of closed up with not enough visibility, and has its problems. Above all, it is a temporary structure with wooden planks starting to come apart.
Thus, the plans for building a permanent altar started to firm up with initial discussions.
We are sure, that with the blessings of Pujya Swamiji, we will have a magnificent altar ready very soon, just in time for being inaugurated by him! We welcome all of you to be part of this grand plan!
Project timeline
- There have been a lot of meetings with a company in India that specializes in making these altars in fiber glass. The altar team has been quite busy with measuring, laying out the specifications and conveying our expectations with the team in India, who has reciprocated really well.
- Contract signed – March 25th, 2024! Jai Gurudev!
- Manufacturing offsite in India, shipping at transportation of the components at Gurukul around June first week.
- Installation start date – June 17 or 18th.
- Installation finish date – around July second week.
- Pratishthapana Puja – TBD
- Temple inauguration by Pujya Swami Swaroopanandaji, Head of Chinmaya Mission Worldwide Aug 17 – 21st, 2024.
Initial proof of concept has been presented to us, and we are very excited to share the look of the temple based on preliminary discussions. The temple will have a white marble finish with golden accents. Several details have yet to be finalized, but this is the initial rendering of the drawings in 3D.
The stage is big enough to accommodate the yajamans, and the Puja samagri. The lighting will all but enhance the beauty of our beautiful Sundar Krishna.

We invite you to be part of this deep Vedic tradition of participating in the temple building project. The temple will be a locus of faith and a source of strength for all people visiting it. Sanatana Dharma has flourished over thousands of years with activities of communities revolving around the temples, giving them a sense of binding to something higher.
